Building a Stronger Future: Empowering People Affected by Leprosy
At our organization, we are deeply committed to supporting people affected by leprosy through a wide range of inclusive, sustainable, and empowering initiatives. Our goal is not only to treat the disease but to also eliminate the stigma surrounding it, while building a society where everyone can live with dignity and purpose.
Many individuals affected by leprosy were denied access to proper education in the past. We recognize this gap and provide capacity development programs to equip them with essential knowledge and life skills. These include literacy support, vocational training, and leadership development to enable full participation in society.
Awareness is the key to ending stigma. We organize targeted awareness campaigns to help people affected by leprosy understand the disease and how it can be cured. By spreading accurate information, we aim to build more accepting communities where everyone is treated equally.
We bring together people affected by leprosy into one strong and supportive group. This unity helps them develop a common identity, build collective strength, and ensure that their voices are heard in the decision-making processes that affect their lives.
We guide individuals and groups toward sustainable economic opportunities. By supporting income generation projects, savings groups, and entrepreneurship, we help create a path toward long-term independence and economic resilience.
We encourage agricultural practices that promote sustainability and resilience. People affected by leprosy are trained to become ambassadors for climate change awareness and contributors to the green economy, linking their livelihood with environmental well-being.
Through continuous training, we empower our members to work alongside health staff in active case detection. They participate in house-to-house surveys, contact tracing, and community-based detection, playing a vital role in early diagnosis and treatment.
True change comes when people affected by leprosy become advocates for their own cause. We provide training in advocacy and communication so they can confidently raise awareness, engage with policymakers, and lead initiatives that call attention to leprosy-related challenges and rights.
We work hand-in-hand with LPAs by conducting specialized training in management, community mobilization, and health outreach. This includes preparing members to participate in surveys, community dialogues, and national campaigns for leprosy elimination.
