Faith plays a powerful role in shaping community values, guiding daily life, and bringing people together in times of need. At the Leprosy People Association (LPA), we recognize and respect the influence of spiritual leaders and faith-based communities. That’s why we actively partner with them—not for religious reasons, but for community healing, social unity, and shared values of dignity, love, and inclusion.
We engage with religious leaders from all backgrounds—be it Buddhist monks, Hindu priests, Christian pastors, or Muslim imams—to spread messages of compassion, unity, and non-discrimination. These leaders often act as bridges of trust in the community, and their voices have the power to challenge stigma, promote inclusion, and strengthen social bonds.
LPA works with places of worship to:
Host community dialogues that promote harmony and understanding
Use religious gatherings as a space for awareness and inclusion campaigns
Encourage sermons and teachings that emphasize compassion, dignity, and respect for all
We are often invited to participate in local religious festivals, prayer events, and community meals. In return, we open our arms to faith-based groups to be part of our public events, campaigns, and volunteer actions.
These moments of sharing are powerful. They show that while our beliefs may differ, our values and hopes for the community are the same.
Through capacity-building sessions and personal interactions, we help faith leaders understand their influence and encourage them to:
Speak out against stigma and discrimination
Support marginalized families in their own congregations
Collaborate with civil groups like LPA to respond to social issues
When faith leaders lead with love, the whole community listens.
Our collaboration with the faith community helps establish a moral foundation for all our work. It reminds us that transformation is not only about material needs but also about emotional and spiritual growth.
With kindness at the center, LPA and the faith community together build a more inclusive and united society.
Whether it’s a blessing at the start of a community event, or a joint outreach effort in a remote village, our partnerships with religious institutions continue to inspire deeper reflection and wider inclusion.
LPA believes in the beauty of unity. Together with the faith community, we walk forward in hope, hand in hand with all who believe in a better tomorrow.
